Accepting clients and commissions!
This was a commission from a pet owner who wanted a memorial portrait of their cat.
The process started with a photo of the pet that they wanted recreated in a mosaic style. I started by blocking out the color pattern on top of the photo for refrence.
Then I went into each of those areas creating shapes of various sizes and coloring them within the color palette that she chose. She wanted a bold color palette.
In the end, I showed another portrait I had made for a family, and she loved the chunky gradient background so that is what we went with for the background as well.
This portrait was a gift for fathers day. I utilized many photos for references, since there were no family photos that the family wanted to use as reference. Instead, I was able to photobash a few photos together to create a base reference for this.
Next I chose a WPAP color Palette and used it to reference shadows and highlights, focusing on yellows for highlights, blues for shadows, and pinks for midtones.
Each of the contour lines and shapes was drawn with the pen tool and filled later with one of the palette colors.
This piece is inspired by the word for a group of owls, Parliment. The project was a study of line weight and shape.
I chose the theme owls, and then I needed one consistent line shape and style to bring them all together.
I chose the loopy feather look and used the eraser to make the feathers all feel wider at the ends. I used swirly eyes to make the eyes stand out, and I used thic curved lined for the feather patterns inside the bodies. The rest of the lines were disjointed and sketchy to create various weights throughout.
